SOP

I graduated in Information Science and Engineering from MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology in June 2011. I got placed in Citigroup Decision Management group through campus and I have been working there since July 2011.

Having worked for a financial conglomerate like Citigroup I have an understanding of the fundamentals of business and I would like to use this and the experience I have gained in the corporate world as a head start to learn in detail about the business and the various aspects related to it which would give an impetus to my career. I would also use my good communication skills effectively to the best extent so that the organization I am serving will be best benefited from my side.

In the coming years of my career I would like to see myself as the CEO of a company because I feel I do possess leadership qualities which I have demonstrated in the various responsibilities given to me in my college and professional life.

If admitted to the program, I will bring with me my enthusiasm, dedication, and a stalwart work ethic. I am proud of what I have accomplished thus far in my life and see much of it as a stepping stone toward a successful future in the business world. I now need to expand my skill set beyond its current level and I see an MBA offered at NMIMS as the perfect way to do so.

Kaminey - Den Ta Nan

All intelligent filmmakers have one thing in common. That is, they dont allow the viewers to leave their brains at home and be mere spectator. After the critically acclaimed ‘Omkara’ Vishal Bharadwaj comes with an exceptional piece of cinema which as a viewer entraps and engulfs you into this world of ‘kaminaas’ which director shows us with utmost realism and conviction.

Kaminey deals with the story of twins, Guddu (Shahid Kapur) and Charlie(Shahid Kapur) who cant stand the sight of each other. Charlie lisps(thothla) in his speech wheras Guddu stutters. Charlie is a small time gangster who has a dream to make it big and believes in shortcut. Guddu on the other hand works for an NGO and falls in love with Sweety(Priyanka Chopra) a home science student. Charlie’s life takes a turn when he is confronted with a guitar
which has cocaine worth 10 crores in it. Sweety on the other hand turns out to be the sister of local don cum wannabe politician Bhope Bahu(Amol Gupte) who is a hardcore pro-Maharashtra activist and is against her marriage with Guddu as he is a north Indian.

The story then moves forward with both the brothers getting involved in a world of drugs, gangsters and money. Their lives collide head on with the lives of these gangsters and wicked politicians. The movie has many characters which the audience might at times fail to keep a track of. With this movie Vishal Bharadwaj proves that he is an exceptional storyteller. Kaminey is not a script which can be conceptualized and materialized by anyone. It requires a director of Vishal’s caliber to come out with such a scintillating piece of work.

On the acting front Shahid Kapur takes a giant stride in terms of his performance. He is brilliant as both both Charlie and Guddu and gives his career best perfoemance through Kaminey. Priyanka Chopra is fantastic as Sweety. She enacts the role of the Maharashtrian Mulgi with utmost ease and surpasses her previous best performance in Fashion. But the surprise package comes in the form of Bhope Bahu brilliantly portrayed by Amole Gupte. Way to go Amole. The other supporting cast too have done a wonderful job. The music by Vishal Bharadwaj is fantastic which each number topping the chartbusters.

On the whole Kaminey is a tremendous piece of cinemawork which excels in every department ranging from direction to dialogues. Take my word- Don’t miss it.

Kambhakkht Ishq- Refund tho bantha hai

Movies are judged on the basis of what justice it makes to that particular genre, storyline and budget. Here is Kambakkht ishq which comes as a blackmark on the genre of romantic-comedies having a storyline which even a K.G student would consider dumb, forget about the adults. And the news is that it is made with a whopping budget of Rs.60 crores. I surely think donating this money to the poor would have surely brought some kind of blessing to Sajid Nadiadwala instead of the curse which he is getting for producing the movie.

The movie is supposed to unite two of the biggest film industries i.e Hollywood and Bollywood. If this movie is called the union then I am sure no Hollywood star is gonna again act in Bollywood movies. Directed by debutant Sabir Khan kambakkht Ishq depicts the battle of sexes. It tells the story two people who are completely different as chalk and cheese. Viraj( Akshay Kumar) is a stuntman in Hollywood who thinks ‘women are only good for two things’. Simrita aka Bebo( Kareena kapoor) who has a thinking that men approach women only for sex.

These two people who hate each other the most meet at Simrita's best friend Kamini's (Amrita Arora) and Viraj's assistant Lucky's (Aftab Shivdasani) wedding A wedding that both Viraj and Simrita are violently opposed to and desperate to stop. Sparks fly and the battle of the sexes in on.

The battle between the to continues until one day Simrita leaves a watch inside Viraj’s stomach while operating him( Dude is that even possible) and Viraj starts hearing “Om Mangalam” tune every hour. Kambakkht ishq falls flat both in its idea and execution. Even the cameos by the Hollywood stars give no respite.Mindless comedies are meant so that you get entertained but I am sorry after watching this you don’t feel entertained rather you feel like running out of the theatre and finding Sajid Nadiadwala for your refund.

As for the performances Akshay Kumar is ok as he has no scope. Kareena enters a new downhill with this movie. Aftab is passable as the poor guy had no choice because assignments don’t often come near Aftab. Amrita Arora is bad. The music by Anu Malik is worse than the Bhojpuri film music. When you are making such a huge movie at least take a good music director. Sabir Khan’s direction does not impress.

On whole Kambhakkt Ishq is a nightmare which you would want to forget as soon as you step out if the theatre. Do a favour to yourself- Avoid it

New York- A new refreshing experience

After the long multiplex- producer strike here comes a respite to our very own bollywood which has suffered a huge financial blow in the past few months. And who else better than Yash raj films to come up with the bail-out honours. Their latest venture New York comes out as a refreshing experience and you move out of the theatre with a serious thought.

Directed by Kabir Khan of Kabul Express fame, New York deals with the plight of Muslims in the US post 9/11. It tells us about trauma and the pain of the individuals who underwent the inhuman torture at the detention centres. The movie begins with Omar( Neil Nitin Mukesh) being detained by the FBI on account of illegal possession of arms which is found in his car. Roshan(Irfan Khan), the investigating officer asks Omar to reveal details of his stay in US which dates back to the lush green campus of New York State University in 1999 where the latter came in through a scholarship from Delhi.
Omar tells Roshan tells us how he met two of is best buddies in college Maya(Katrina Kaif) and Sameer aka Sam(John Abraham). He also reveals about his feelings he had for Maya, who inturn loved Sam and this forces Omar to move out of their lives and settle in Philedelphia.
Agent Roshan tells Omar that Sam is a suspected terrorist and that he runs a terrorist cell. Omar is then sent into the lives of Sam and Maya who are now married, as an undercover FBI agent to gather evidences and inform the FBI about the activities of this terrorist cell run by Sam. Hence thanks to the FBI the three budddies of college reunite again.
Omar through his behaviour tries to instigate Sam so that his real face, that of a terrorist comes in front of him but eventually fails in all his attempts as he does not find any evidence against Sam which would prove that Sam is a terrorist. But just when you are close to the intermission you have a big shock in store. Sam actually admits to Omar that he infact is a terrorist and runs a terrorist cell. He also tells about the inhuman torture he underwnt at the detention centre post 9/11 which made him turn into a terrorist. And the rest is for you all to find out...
New York is a movie which has a heart at the right place. Though it has its own shortcomings in the form of some loop holes in the script and acting front and also in terms of slackening of pace in the second half it successfully covers all this by its positives.Kabir Khan as the director has done a fine job. Some of the scenes such as the detention centre torture are simply breathtaking. Dialogues by Sandeep Shrivastava are strong. Music by Pritham is passable.
On the acting front John does a terrefic job portraying the character of Sam. Katrina dissapoints as Maya as the role requires a much seasoned actress. Irfan is first rate as usual. But the surprise package comes in the form of Neil Nitin Mukesh who delivers a splendid performance as Omar. Way to go Neil.
On whole New York is a sincere attempt and does quite successfully pass on the message it actually wants to convey. Give it a watch....

Taare Zameen Par- A Heart Touching Story

Who says that movies are just made with a sole ambition of mindless entertainment without any educative knowledge or moral values? In an era of mindless comedies and action flix which have nothing in them except loads of immoral stuffs here comes a movie breaking all paths toshow that the flair of Indian cinema is not yet gone. Taare Zameen par drives home a strong message, making you emphatize with the kid, compelling you to draw parallels with your life, making one realize that some of the renowned geniuses were once scoffed at, but the world had tto bow down to their intellect later.

Released on 25th December 2007 Taare Zameen Par is a story which speaks about the fate of a dyslexic child Ishaan (brilliantly portrayed by Darsheel) and his day to day dealings with life. He is filled with wonders which no one else seems to appreciate. When he gets into far more troubles, he is packed off and sent to a boarding school. Things are no different at his new school and Ishaan has to contend with tthe trauma of separation from his family

One day a new teacher bursts into the class who infects the students with hope and optimism. He breaks all rules of 'how things are done' by asking them to think, dream and imagine. He discovers that Ishaan is a dyslexic child and ultimately helps him to find himself.

A number of sequences in the movie make you spell bound and leave you moist eyed. The bonding between Ishaan and his mother is remarkable. But the best part is reserved for the finale. The art competition in the penultimate twenty minutes. The emotions reach a all time high as the child regains his confidence. The movie also speaks about the present education system in India which is purely based on mugging and bookish knowledge.Taare Zameen Par entirely belongs to Darsheel who enacts the role of Ishaan.A performance that makes the best of performance pale in comparison. On the whole Taare Zameen Par is an outstanding work of cinema.
On whole I would just say one thing for those who have not seen this movie “Do yourself a favour, watch Taare Zameen Par".

Deshdrohi- A Journey of Laughter

Everyone at least once in their lifetime aspire to see themselves on the silver screen but harsh reality hits back at us everytime that we don’t have what is called as the ‘star look’. But here’s a movie that tares apart all these myths. It just shows what is really required is not looks but a big
bank balance so that you can produce and act in your movie without any restriction. After watching this movie I am sure your dreams of becoming the actor will be reborn again.

“Deshdrohi” breaks all the conventional paths of film making and delivers to you what is known as an ultimate masterpiece of Indian Cinema. So is Deshdrohi really good?
Guys don’t mistake my words. The movie is bizarre and mind you has so many potholes that you honestly forget your count, counting them. But still these potholes lead to the foundation of what we call the masterpiece entertainer. You just jump off your seats and burst into laughter though it made with an intension of making a serious movie. The only difference between a comedy movie and “Deshdrohi” is that you don’t laugh with the movie but laugh at the movie.

The movie takes off with our super cool dude (sarcastic) gaaon ka ladka Raja (epic performance by KRK) coming to Mumbai to become a police officer (Ha Ha the biggest joke in the movie). He gets victimized to the so called “Marathi and UP Bihari” war and realizes that the northies actually do have a tough life living in Mumbai. He meets Sonia (Gracy Singh) an Indian version of Charlie’s Angel who comes always at the right time reaches to help the victimized people who suffer at the hands at the local Gunda’s. Raja accidentally kills a person in a bash with the villains and ends up being a Deshdrohi.

KRK(Kamaal Rashid Khan) delivers an excellent performance as Raja. I am sure once a person watches his performance no doubt you turn up being his fan. His dialogue delivery is so good that you don’t feel he is delivering a dialogue. His dance steps beat those of Hrithik’s
and mind you Hrithik will be on his way to take some coaching from our very own KRK. A whole blog can be written on KRK’s mannerisms but I am resisting my self to only this much.

Gracy Singh shows it to the world how desperate she is for work. I mean is she the one who acted in great movies like Lagaan and Munnabhai MBBS? I sincerely plead the producers to give her some work so that we don’t see such waste of talent. The supporting cast Manoj Tiwari, Aman Verma, Kader Khan, Ranjit have proved that there is no other director signing them.

The dialogues and the songs are the next things which are truly memorable. The dialogues like “Jitni nafrat humare liye tumhare dil mein hai” and “Jab Soniya marti hai tho aadmi ut jaatha hai” are the highlight of the movie. The songs “Tera Vaada Raha” a spoof of Guzarish and “Tu Jaan se Pyaara” just leave you spell bound (Ha Ha).

On whole never mind you are a bollywood fan or not please do watch “Deshdrohi” because I bet you it is going to be the most memorable film of your life.

DEV D- A Torturous Athyachaar

The art of making pathetic movies is present in almost every director in the b-town. But what differentiates Anurag Kashyap (Director of Dev D) from others is unique gift which he has of torturing his audiences with his movies. After making a horrible “NO Smoking” Kashyap returns with the formula of Emotional Athyachaar in his new venture “DEV D”.

The movie is a contemporary adaptation of the Sharat Chandra novel “Devdas”. The movie begins with the main protagonist Dev (Abhay Deol) who ha been sent to London for studies asking his childhood love Paro (Mahi Gill)to send him a nude pic of the latter which the latter eventually
ends up sending. Aroused by the pic Dev returns to Punjab his native.

Dev meets Paro and both endeavor to make love (have s**) but eventually fail every time. Sunil( donno his real name)a local spreads rumours about Paro to Dev telling that she is one of the biggest whores of the village and has had physical relations with many men including him. Dev gets instigates by this refuses to make love with Paro after the latter makes the whole arrangement of the program in the fields. Dev leaves Paro and she gets married to Bhuvan.

The movie then shifts focus to Lene (Kalki Koechlin) the daughter of the Canadian Ambassador in India who gets involved in an MMS scandal and thus ending up as a call girl in Delhi. Dev shifts to Delhi and transforms himself into a big time alcoholic. He gets confronted with a pimp Chunni (really funny) who has a pink car (the only man to have so). Chunni takes Dev to Chanda but he hates her in their first meeting but Chanda on the contrary falls in love with Dev in their first meeting. Dev calls Paro to his lodge in Delhi where he expresses his love to her but the latter asks him to forget her and in the course ends up insulting him.

Frustrated Dev goes back to Chanda and then starts a torturous saga of melodrama filled with loud music which makes you suffocate to death. It is said that Indians lack the element of Unconventional cinema. But if this is unconventional I prefer the usual naach-gaana anyday.

The only good moment in the movie is the superhit shaadi track “Emotional Athyachaar” by Patna Ke Presleys. But no one on earth is such a big fool to pay the theatre ticket to just catch a song which is repeatedly played on all TV channels.Abhay Deol shines in his role as Dev. But the movie is too boring for people to recognize it. Mahi Gill is first rate as Paro. But the real disappointment comes from Kalki who does not live upto the expectation of the role. A real miscast as Chanda
.

While watching Dev D you just feel that you are stuck in middle of a creepy maze which only scares you and you tend to save your life by rushing out of the theatre. After undergoing the horrible Athyachaar for three hours I warn you guys “just stay out of it”.

On whole DEV D is a bizarre, horrifying, terrible (falling short of adjectives) experience which turns out to be worst than a nightmare. Just one request to Anurag Kashyap “Stop torturing the audiences”.
