Kambhakkht Ishq- Refund tho bantha hai

Movies are judged on the basis of what justice it makes to that particular genre, storyline and budget. Here is Kambakkht ishq which comes as a blackmark on the genre of romantic-comedies having a storyline which even a K.G student would consider dumb, forget about the adults. And the news is that it is made with a whopping budget of Rs.60 crores. I surely think donating this money to the poor would have surely brought some kind of blessing to Sajid Nadiadwala instead of the curse which he is getting for producing the movie.

The movie is supposed to unite two of the biggest film industries i.e Hollywood and Bollywood. If this movie is called the union then I am sure no Hollywood star is gonna again act in Bollywood movies. Directed by debutant Sabir Khan kambakkht Ishq depicts the battle of sexes. It tells the story two people who are completely different as chalk and cheese. Viraj( Akshay Kumar) is a stuntman in Hollywood who thinks ‘women are only good for two things’. Simrita aka Bebo( Kareena kapoor) who has a thinking that men approach women only for sex.

These two people who hate each other the most meet at Simrita's best friend Kamini's (Amrita Arora) and Viraj's assistant Lucky's (Aftab Shivdasani) wedding A wedding that both Viraj and Simrita are violently opposed to and desperate to stop. Sparks fly and the battle of the sexes in on.

The battle between the to continues until one day Simrita leaves a watch inside Viraj’s stomach while operating him( Dude is that even possible) and Viraj starts hearing “Om Mangalam” tune every hour. Kambakkht ishq falls flat both in its idea and execution. Even the cameos by the Hollywood stars give no respite.Mindless comedies are meant so that you get entertained but I am sorry after watching this you don’t feel entertained rather you feel like running out of the theatre and finding Sajid Nadiadwala for your refund.

As for the performances Akshay Kumar is ok as he has no scope. Kareena enters a new downhill with this movie. Aftab is passable as the poor guy had no choice because assignments don’t often come near Aftab. Amrita Arora is bad. The music by Anu Malik is worse than the Bhojpuri film music. When you are making such a huge movie at least take a good music director. Sabir Khan’s direction does not impress.

On whole Kambhakkt Ishq is a nightmare which you would want to forget as soon as you step out if the theatre. Do a favour to yourself- Avoid it
